(Durnin-Womersley Method)
Bicep measurement
Where on the body:
Front of the upper arm.
Exact spot:
Halfway between your shoulder and elbow, right over the center of your bicep muscle.
How to measure:
Let your arm hang relaxed at your side.
Pinch the skin vertically (straight up and down) in the middle of the bicep.
Place the caliper about 1 cm below your fingers and take the reading after 2 seconds.
Tip:
Make sure the person’s arm is relaxed, not flexed.

Subscapular measurement
Where on the body:
Upper back, just under the shoulder blade.
Exact spot:
About 1 inch below the bottom tip of the shoulder blade, angled slightly sideways.
How to measure:
Ask the person to let their arms relax naturally.
Find the bottom corner of the shoulder blade (feel for the bony edge).
Pinch the skin at a slight angle (diagonal), and place the caliper about 1 cm below your fingers. Read after 2 seconds.
Tip:
This one can be tricky to do on yourself — ask someone to help.

Suprailiac measurement
Where on the body:
Side of your lower stomach/waist, near the top of your hip.
Exact spot:
Just above the hip bone, slightly forward, pointing toward your belly button.
How to measure:
Stand up straight and relax your belly.
Find the top of your hip bone with your fingers.
Pinch a diagonal fold of skin just above that bone, pointing slightly toward the center of your body.
Place the caliper 1 cm below your fingers and take the reading after 2 seconds.
Tip:
It helps to do this one in front of a mirror.

Tricep measurement
Where on the body:
Back of the upper arm.
Exact spot:
Halfway between the shoulder and elbow on the back of the arm.
How to measure:
Let your arm hang relaxed at your side or rest it gently on a table.
Pinch a vertical fold of skin at the back of the upper arm.
Place the caliper 1 cm below the pinch and read the result after 2 seconds.
Tip:
Easier if someone else does this one for you.
